    The Matterhorn “trivia” is one that has grown over the years and added to out of speculation. Yes, there was a basketball hoop inside the structure of the ride at one point, but it was a temporary thing put there during construction by the iron workers. There is nowhere enough room at the top of the ride for a full size basketball court.
