Arthur Wynne did what he called a “Word-Cross” in the New York World newspaper in 1913…adapting older word puzzles that were smaller and less interesting. Wynne’s first puzzle was symmetrical and used numbers to mark certain boxes…just like now.

A thermos’ lining includes cork and glass, both poor conductors of heat, and a vaccuum, an even worse conductor of heat. This makes it difficult for outside heat to enter a cold drink, or for the heat from a hot drink to pass outside.
